Blood Sweat & Tears

5’11 x 20 3/4 x 2 7/16 Kevlar/carbon, wood, eps FreakFish.

This was a prototype – lots learnt through blood sweat and tears. Pretty pleased with the end result. Learning points are all visible and will make the next one lighter with a more perfect finish.

It will be super robust with the tulipwood rails (beautifully thicknessed to 3.2mm strips by Beech Bros of Exeter), birch ply deck, Kevlar carbon bottom. Weight is more than a PU or EPS conventional but it is still a spritely 8lbs and the added weight should give it loads more flow and quicker take offs.

This one will be ridden a few times and then for sale. It is a prototype so it’s imperfections will be reflected in the price at £450 ex fins.

Custom orders will be £700 inc fins.

Making 17

This is one of those jobs I wished I had set up the video camera for… i had to paint 17 squares of different coloured resin into a pre-drawn silver grid using a set of rules created by artist Peter J Evans for his board.

I used 4 pots of tinted resin (no wax so I can gloss straight over), a fine brush,  and it took 3 mixes as they just kept going off quicker than i could paint them in. The brief was to keep it loose, like the original piece called “Making 40” where the colours were loosely sketched over a graph paper grid.

I love the result and hopefully Pete will too. Gonna be hard to wax this one!P1070718

Red Resin Pinline: I love doing these.

Next a black one against the spray before the long tidy up with the blade

Based on the SAS campaign artwork to highlight the troubles at Broadbench… (nuff respect to the original artist). Please sign up to this campaign if you believe that we should all have access to our ocean rather than being excluded so someone can use it as a firing range.

Right now this board is awaiting its bonzer LokBox set to allow it to show its full potential… more details about the board another time. T   P1150963 P1150984 P1150961 P1150957 P1150959 P1150979

Orca

Orca – the asymmetric bonzer - finally finished – not been a rush due to my knees, but now it is complete i am so excited to ride it and see how it performs… see if the theories are realised in its performance… probably the most excited I have been since the Joker.
